Ed Case throws support behind Colleen Hanabusa
"In this contest of values there's room for only one standard bearer for our party," said Ed Case. "So today I withdraw my candidacy in favor of Colleen (Hanabusa)."
Hanabusa’s the One.
"Colleen Hanabusa is brilliant and diligent. We can count on her to work smart and hard for Hawaii."
Broad Support
I am pleased to have the support of our state's longtime Senators Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka, EMILY's List and the League of Conservation Voters and labor organizations. And to have been listed on the DCCC's Red to Blue List.
“I support Colleen Hanabusa because she really listens to people’s concerns and will work hard to benefit the community. I put my trust in her forward-thinking leadership because I know she has the vision to do what’s right for future generations.” Teal Takayama

Harold Schaitberger, General President, International Association of Fire Fighters, left, and Bobby Lee, President of the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association, Local 1463, IAFF, right.

A passionate, progressive leader, Hanabusa has fought to protect the rights of workers to organize, secure vital education funding, and require insurance companies to cover birth control.

Colleen Hanabusa supporter Rev. Fujitani was the Bishop of Hawai‘i’s largest Buddhist denomination, the Honpa Hongwanji Mission from 1975-1986. He served in WWII with the Army Military Intelligence Service. He received his Master of Arts at the University of Chicago in History of Religions.

It is with great enthusiasm that I throw my support behind your candidacy to be the next U.S. Representative from Hawaii’s First Congressional District. I admire the work that you’ve done to uncover fraud and waste in special education funding and the courageous actions you took to combat the crystal methamphetamine problem in Hawaii with prevention, treatment and enhanced sentencing. I note with admiration that as President of the State Senate, you are the first woman to lead either house of the Hawaii Legislature. Congress needs a leader like you to assist us in carrying out President Obama’s agenda of change and I am excited at the possibility of serving along side you and welcoming you to the Congressional Progressive Caucus. The people of Hawaii will be well-served with you representing them in the U.S. House of Representatives.
